According to education department statistics, Goa has 1,735 schools, including primary, middle, high, and higher secondary schools. These 1,735 schools include government schools as well as Government aided and unaided schools. Apart from these schools, Goa also has a network of schools owned by private bodies.
Affiliated as well as non-affiliated colleges approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) offer courses at different levels including UG and PG. As per the recent reports released by UGC, a total of 35 colleges with a status of sections are available in Goa to provide higher education.

The Department of Information Technology is constantly working towards establishing Goa as an Intelligent State through promotion of Information Technology in Trade, Commerce and Infotainment. Existing – Many schemes, activities and programs have been implemented by the government to further the growth of the technological sector in Goa. Grants have been provided to various organizations in the field of science and technology and innovations. Grants have been provided by the state government to help improve the agricultural sector in Goa due to which a growth of upto 2.13% has been seen after many efforts. Through suitable implementation models, the Government of Goa will undertake the construction of green, intelligent buildings with plug and play infrastructure which is bound to become a game changer for many companies. The said buildings will be in a ‘ready to use’ state for any small and mid-sized knowledge based industry to establish itself.
